We stopped in for lunch on Labor Day and we're not disappointed in the food. My husband had the steak sandwich, and I had their hamburger. Both came with fries and coleslaw. Everything was very good, and we were seated right away and got our food soon after we ordered. We didn't see our waiter after he delivered the food; however, in his defense, it was very busy, and they apparently had him running between the inside and outside tables. We would return if we are in the area again. St. Joseph is a really cute little town, and there is a great ice cream shop, Cabana's, a couple of doors down the street.

So Ryebelles..... you have my attention for being a good restaurant in an awesome beach town...... The good: The roof top views at sunset are probably one of the best sights in the area! The ambiance is nice and relaxing but could use a lil more ummmppphhhh The food was actually pretty decent.. I had the Chilled Shrimp which was ok ... but could use a lil bit more spice to it... the cocktail sauce was awesome! had that Kick that cocktail sauce should have. The pizza was delicious ... only gripe I had was it wasnt crispy enough but overall a awesome pizza. The live entertainment was pretty good, not sure what her name was but she was a 19 year old soloist with a red guitar with awesome vocals. Servers were awesome and friendly and very attentive and knowledgeable about the menu. The Bad: (please dont be mad at me ... I will come back when Im in town again) The waiting for the table part... turning around tables at this place was awful.... there were several tables that were waiting to have someone sit in it but for some reason nobody was.... people were waiting an hour or more just for a table and yet there sat... 2-3 tables empty at a time... It seems like there was a disconnect between the Hostesses and the available tables...

No thanks. We tried to get in on a Thursday evening. The bitchy hostess told us to go upstairs for patio seating. The upstairs hostess told us it would be at least forty minutes. As we walked away we noticed multiple open tables on the patio. Never going back.

Went to Ryebelles for dinner last night. Our server was excellent and she made sure our drinks were always filled. We had a killer view. For appetizers we had Bruschetta and Goat Cheese Fondue - both were tasty and great for sharing. For dinner I got to try their pizza for the first time. Great hand-tossed pizza. We had their Margherita and the Garlic Mushroom. Really good and great brick oven flavor. The other couple we were with had the Ryebelles Burger (he loved it and their fries) and she had the beet salad which she loved as well. On our way out, we saw the manager in the kitchen helping make the pizzas. Excellent dedication! Can't wait to go back!

Wow - what a disappointment! We showed up with our party of 8 (4 adults and 4 kids) at 5:45 on a Saturday and were told they couldn't accommodate our group.

I visited this location with my mother. We sat at the bar and the service was good. Great beer selection. Mother had balsamic chicken and it was fantastic. My black bean burger was ok, only because the salsa on top was overly spicy. Would visit again and order something else off the menu.

Excellent food, great service...they have nailed the way fine dining restaurant should be run. From the friendly hostesses to two excellent bartenders, knowledgeable servers and an active management team. This is the definitive fine dining establishment inj St. joe.

Great rooftop view. Food was very overpriced. My wife had mahimahi that was very very bland. Our asparagus tasted not even cooked. I love steamed vegetables but I think this was barely touched with heat.

I feel bad giving it on 3 stars as the bar is very nice, the atmosphere is great, and watching the sunset here is wonderful. However...the key items food and drink were the weak parts...food sounds great, but disappoints from a flavor perspective. Drink, well it's hard to screw up a cocktail but a bad 7 & 7 is not a good start to the night....

We didnt even end up eating here even after making a reservation. A large group of us were in St Joseph for a girls weekend and went here looking to spend a lot of money. Every staff member we encountered, both inside and on the roof, was SO extremely rude!!! We showed up 15mins before our reservation time and were told "Umm its gonna be a while we have to get a table ready" Then we were told we could go up to the roof to see if there were open spots. There were 4 large tables open on the rooftop and after we sat down at one another rude employee came over to yell at us and say it was first come, first serve...yet there was a "2 hour wait!" Absolutely ridiculous! If they really had a 2 hour wait half of the tables would not have been empty. We will never even step foot in this place again! The manager should send all employees to training on how NOT to be a complete assholes

Came around 5:30pm with my wife on a warm & sunny Thursday evening in late May. Were seated on rooftop with no waiting. Took a while to order since they were out of first choice (walleye). Food arrived (lake perch for her, pizza for me) by 6:30pm, just as live music began (girl playing classic & alt rock covers on guiter and singing). Food was good, if a bit overpriced. View of lake is nice, but sun protection is modest at best - bring sunglasses and maybe sunscreen and a hat. Stayed longer than a normal dinner to enjoy ambiance without rush from staff. Would probably come again.

We loved sitting on the deck for dinner. I had the gluten-free pizza, which was good. My husband's grouper dish was ok but tasted frozen. The French fries were amazing.

Amazing rooftop, highly recommended! Food was ok, give it 3 stars and our waitress was very flustered with our group of 8(4kids) who didnt make up their minds on the order. We ordered the beet salad, Chicken sandwiches, pita and hummus, shrimp basket, chips and salsa while the salsa was top notch the chips were under fried,Veggie pizza and half and half of cheese and sausage pizza.

Deserves 0 stars. Tried coming here twice (Friday night and Saturday). Both night arrived right at 10. Hostess was told my some Doogie Howser wannabe that the kitchen was closed as she was preparing to seat us. Probably should communicate that info to your front desk if that's the case on a busy Sat night when there's still Tables waiting for food within view of the door. Hostess was sweet and seemed embarrassed by the unprofessional nature of this "manager".

Great ambiance. Nice decor. Hub and I ordered the spinach and artichoke dip. Tastes good, but one star deducted for how hard the bread for dipping was! Surprised I didn't break a front tooth! If you like seafood, you MUST GET THE SCALLOPS ENTREE! Honestly, the best scallops I have ever had. It's served with a beautiful light white sauce. I got it with the rice pilaf. Huge scallops the size of my palm! Hubby got the ny strip he liked w baked potato as side. For dessert, we split a creme brûlée slice of cheesecake. YUM!!! Him and I had two rounds of drinks, appetizer, the entrees, and dessert for $95!!! In Chicago, that would have put us ocer $150 easily! Only recommendation for the restaurant would be different dipping option other than the hard bread! Would def come back (but order something else other than the spinach artichoke dip)

Have you ever had a restaurant experience that was so reprehensible that all family members present cite it as "the worst restaurant experience I have had in my life"? This is 100% REAL, prepare yourself... August 10, 2014 @ 6pm: After enjoying the roof top bar for approximately (2) hours, my wife and I were excited to eat at the place our parents had been raving about for the past (3) months. Having departed (8) years of active military service, this was the first time we were all getting together since moving to the area. We were seated and a nice, blonde haired, young man introduced himself as our server. He immediately led off with the items that were no longer being served due to the high amount of traffic they had unexpectedly received following the near perfect beach day. Amongst the items not being served were 2-3 popular entrees, 4 appetizers and believe it or not, they had run out of bread and chips. The waiting periods for the ordering of drinks, appetizers and entrees were on average 15-20 minutes per event. We initially cut our server a break being that the restaurant was so busy. A small family sat adjacent to us 20 minutes after we had been seated. We order our food 15 minutes before they did. Salads, soup, appetizers and NO bread were served 15 minutes after ordering. Our server was nowhere to be found for approximately 20 minutes following this. At this point we can overhear several other tables becoming disgruntled with the service. Our server returns. Entrees? Not exactly... he informs us that the (2) steak sandwiches and (1) large pizza ordered are no longer being served as they have "run out of those items." At this point patience amongst the family members present was beginning to wear thin. My father-in-law asks our server to send over the manager. Approximately, 10 more minutes pass. We again ask our server again to speak to the manager. 10 more minutes pass and an early twenties, blonde haired, female manager appears. She begins speaking with my father-in-law. Even tempered Dad now begins explaining the situation to the supposed manager. She is dressed identically to the servers and her young age surprises me. She then begins to agree with everything my Dad is saying about the poor quality of service. Uncle Jack calls her over mid conversation: "Simply put, this is F***d up!" Every middleclass American family has an uncle Jack. Manager: "I don't appreciate the language" Uncle Jack refrains. Manager readdresses my Dad and departs shortly thereafter. The manager offered no solution to our complaints and only offered agreement. I get it, "costumer service 101"states to always agree with the customer, but for crying out loud offer some solutions (free beverages, complimentary soup/salad etc...). 5 minutes pass, the small family sitting adjacent to us begins getting their food. Guess what they ordered? A LARGE PIZZA!!!! That's right our server did tell us he ran out of those. And yes that's right, we did order 15 minutes before the other table did. UNACCEPTABLE! At this point we have had it and my characteristically calm father-in-law now goes to the front podium to pay for our bill of the items consumed. I depart to the restroom simultaneously. The rest of our family remains seated. As I return to the front podium area I can see now that my father has gotten in a heated conversation with who appears to be the real manager. He had been hiding in the kitchen all along and was clearly identifiable as the manager by the fact that he was dressed differently then all the other employees and he also identifies himself as "the manager. " So the two of them are heatedly discussing back and fourth the issues of our experience. The real manager is worse than the fake manager. He continues to make excuses for the mistakes and disagree with the even-keeled statements my Dad is making. While this is happening my Dad is speaking animatedly, and out of nowhere a female server accidently walks into the back of his hand as he was gesturing during conversation. YOU CANNOT MAKE THIS UP! The manager immediately: "Sir, you struck one of my waiters" Dad: "Are you kidding me, she ran into me. I wasn't even looking that way." "Sir that is unacceptable" "It was an accident, please bring her over here so I can apologize" "She is in extreme pain because her nose was recently broken, she does not want to speak to you" And we will end on that note. **I don't anticipate this story causing a paradigm shift in dining location, as St Joseph only has a few nicer restaurants to choose from. If you have the choice to dine elsewhere I hope this review will influence that decision. ** Ownership: CLEARLY you need to reassess who manages your restaurant, especially on high traffic days. Your "manager" clearly lacked the integrity to own up to his employees mistakes and and pushing the blame onto my father clearly demonstrates severe lack of character.

Love Ryebelles! I've been several times and am always happy with the service. The views from the outdoor tables are wonderful. The menu is varied but not spread so thin they aren't able to focus on quality. The scallop entree is my favorite, but I have enjoyed Lake Perch and Filet Mignon. I've been to Ryebelles with several groups of friends and have not heard a complaint. Oh! Try the Asparagus Tempura.

We had an amazing lunch at the bar, since the wait for a table was over a half hour. It's a busy place and, after eating the wonderful food, we can see why! Our waitress was so pleasant, in spite of the size of the crowd she was serving. We shared the Firecracker Shrimp and couldn't believe it was even better than Bang Bang Shrimp at Bonefish! We also shared a burger and fries that were scrumptious...what did they do to those fries to make them so good?!? Wish we lived closer to go back often! Will definitely make it a point to go back when we can. We've found a favorite!!

Where on the second night of opening and had wonderful service and delicious food. Came back a year later and were packed into a tiny table by the kitchen and slogged through a boring meal. Don't think we will try it again.

We were at RyeBelle's the other night for dinner and again had a wonderful experience. We dined in this time due to the chilly temp outside. The dining room is very comfortable and pleasant. Our server Becky was fabulous! We were glad to share this treasure with our relatives who are locals and will now be patrons.

Have had dinner and drinks here several times , they make a great wild mushroom pizza and firecracker shrimp. Having a drunken Ernie at their roof top bar over looking Silver Beach on a hot summets day can not be beat.

This was the second to last stop on our recent Indiana/Michigan road trip. After walking down to the water to explore a bit, we finally made our way to RyeBelle's at 3 (when it opened) for lunch. Their Bloody Mary wasn't much to write home about, but their cashew egg rolls were delightful. Then I ordered the gluten free pizza crush with the wild mushroom topping. Those mushrooms were delish. My friend ordered the house favorite pizza on regular crust (and added mushrooms). The sausage and pepperoni gave the pizza a good kick. Plus it had a great view!

Had a very nice dinner this past Friday. While waiting I was entertained by a very talented musician playing acoustic guitar. Enjoyed a delicious virgin Bloody Mary from the full service bar. My children ordered a pizza and it was so amazing. I ordered the Cajun shrimp pasta and it was delicious. My husband had the ribeye sandwich and said it was good. If I visited the area again I would definitely make this a stop. The sunset was gorgeous!

Beautiful views of the lake and live music on the rooftop make for a special dining experience whether it be with friends, family or on a date. Their draft beer selection is great with a nice mix for all palates. Their menu is also well diversified. We got a flat bread pizza and a cheeseburger at our table and both were very good with a nice presentation and quality ingredients.

The experience was alright, but not amazing. Seems like it just another restaurant and that's it, they aren't really committed to making the customer happy. I wanted a Caesar salad instead of the only option, which is a chincy house salad, but they wouldn't let me.. Even though I offered to pay extra... Food took a while to come out, and our drinks went dry often. The food however was pretty good! But it was expensive. The rooftop was pretty nice! I would like to try some other places though

Great food. Came today memorial weekend, 1 hour wait but flew by since they took my number and called me when a table was ready, so I went shopping at nearby boutiques. Food was very tasty. Service was good. Had delicious Mediterranean pasta w chicken no bread though. Hubby had steak sandwich with fries, good. Daughter had grilled chicken sandwich it was fair, no children menu, not good. Spinach artichoke dip was fabulous. Martini, yummo. Wished i had rooftop table though, it was a beautiful night 2 hr wait for that and with a child it wasn't going to happen. I definitely would return.

Great food and drinks. Nice atmosphere. A little pricey but often worth it. Love the pineapple push-up and the spinach artichoke dip. Excellent service.

Rye Belles is a consistent favorite with great food, excellent variety of menu options for food and wines, good service and warm, charming atmosphere whether dining indoors, on the balcony or on the rooftop. Really good daily specials make Rye Belles an even better value. The staff is always accommodating and willing to go the extra distance for customers. The salads are superb, as is the pasta, pizza, chicken and steak. I haven't tried the sea foods, but I have no doubt they are as good as the rest of the menu items. If you have a choice, choose Rye Belles; you will be glad you did.

We had an early dinner here one night. I went upstairs and peeked at the beautiful rooftop deck overlooking the lake, but it was hot and we had our 5 month old with us so we decided to stay in the air conditioning. I imagine on a cooler day, that would be a fantastic place to enjoy a meal. They only had a few beers on tap, but it was a nice sort of something to please everyone kind of selection and my husband was happy. He had a burger with fries and I had the steak sandwich and fries which was cooked to a delicious medium rare and came with a horseradish mayo that was really good. My one critique would be that even though our waitress was really friendly and good she seemed almost frantic. We were seated at the first table by the door and just saw waitstaff SPRINTING by from every direction. Maybe they need to hire a few more employees for a calmer atmosphere for the customers.

Good food and ambience The Greek Salad was great and the calamari was good. Nice selection of wine. looking forward to try out the roof top deck in the summer

Finally I can say that I have had something that was actually blackened!! Not something burned with a bunch of pepper on it. The blackened grouper was delicious, seasoned to perfection. Also couldn't get enough of the firecracker shrimp. Awesome. The wife had pasta with shrimp added to it. Everything was really good quality food. We'll be back for sure!!!

Beautiful view! Wonderful service. I ordered the scallops and red potatoes. My meal was good, I only wish that they offered other vegetables that night other than asparagus.

We've been meaning to try Ryebelle's for the past two years and finally got the chance. We went for dinner on a beautiful Sunday evening so a view of the lakefront was definitely on the menu for us. We waited about 30 minutes for a table and were seated right on the railing and had a wonderful view. We tried two appetizers - asparagus tempura and goat cheese and they were both really good. The tempura was light and wrapped around thick and tender Michigan asparagus with a wasabi dipping sauce that had just the right kick to it. For our entrees, our party had the mediterranean pasta, the spinach salad and burgers. Everything was delicious. The portions were a good size - overall, I thought the prices were very reasonable. A must have - their "Drunken Artie" speciality cocktail. It's made with their own vodka infused sweet tea and lemonade - awesome!

We have lived in this town for approximately 3 months now, and we finally decided to stop in and try this rooftop eatery. My wife, myself, and another couple decided we would do a late lunch, stopping in early, as we often saw quite a crowd around this place on Sundays. We waited outside patiently at about 2:45, since the restaurant opened at 3:00. Finally, at about 3:10 they opened the front doors. Eagerly, but not deterred, we wandered up the stairs to the patio, where we were asked to wait in line, while the hostesses took their time ushering guests to their tables. Meanwhile... as we waited, to enter the rooftop outdoor dining area, we were huddled at the top of the stairs, with the door open since we were next to be seated when all of the sudden the owner (his hostess ratted him out to us) yelled at us to 'keep the door closed, we aren't paying to air condition the outside...' Sorry sir, we apologize on behalf of your hostesses, not allowing us to stand outside; although I do remember seeing a bar, and quite a bit of waiting space. Maybe it was just me. Service was sub par, food was not made as ordered, waitress was sweaty (I know it is outdoors, but... yuck). Only reason I am providing two stars, my food was good, my wife's food was good (other couple was not impressed, but they can leave their own review!) and the drinks were strong. Maybe we will try dining in the dining room next time. Maybe.

  • K C.

Average meal, nothing was bad but nothing was great either. The appetizers, salsas, and sauces were one dimensional. The food lacked seasoning except for the blackened grouper which was very heavy handed on the seasoning. The food pacing from the kitchen was rushed. We ended up get our salads then our main course within minutes of each other. Besides that service was good. The seating was cramped and people kept hitting each other's chairs when getting up from the table. I might give this place a try again, but it wouldn't be my first choice.

About the Roof top. I had pasta and it was perfect. Also the size, not too much. Good beer on tap. Grear view from all the the table. Good service. The only but is the time they open. I went on Sunday for lunch. The opened at 3 pm. 2h earlier and would be perfect.
